Plans, billing, and AI credits
Understand workspace capacity, seats, trials, shared AI credits, and agent spending limits.
Your plan covers workspace features and shared capacity. AI credits pay for model-backed agent work. Billing settings and credit controls let authorized administrators see usage and manage spending.
Review the workspace plan
Open Workspace Settings → Plans to see Current access, workspace usage, and the available plan comparison. Matte’s current workspace plans are Free, Starter, Business, Scale, and Enterprise.
Capacity is shared across installed apps and custom objects. Limits can cover active records, records per object, custom objects, stored data, included apps, inventory spaces, and full users. Installing another app does not create a separate unlimited pool for its data.
Use the plan information in your workspace for current prices, limits, and enabled features. A trial, custom agreement, or workspace-specific entitlement can differ from the standard comparison.
Separate seat types from permission roles
Billing shows Users and seat charges. A seat controls the level of access that can be assigned and whether it counts toward included or additional full users. A permission role determines the actual actions granted within that ceiling.
Viewer and Counter seats support limited participation. Operator and Admin seats cover broader work and are treated as full-user seats. Giving a Counter a broader role does not automatically give that seat every operator capability.
When changing someone’s seat, review the resulting access and charge. Removing permissions from a role and changing the person’s billable seat are separate decisions.
Manage a trial or subscription
The setup flow offers a 14-day Business trial without a card, and a 30-day card trial when available. The no-card option has no automatic charges. The card option explains automatic renewal, the price after the trial, extras, taxes, and cancellation before checkout.
Trial eligibility is checked on the server. If a person is not eligible, setup can offer Continue on Free. Do not assume that creating another workspace starts another free trial.
Open Billing and use Manage subscription for the billing portal. Payment details, billing information, invoices, and receipts are handled through the available billing controls and portal. Paid features or AI work may be restricted when payment needs attention; the workspace shows the reason.
Understand the shared credit balance
Credits are shared by the workspace. Adding users or apps does not increase the monthly allowance automatically. Credits settings show the available balance, refresh date, usage, and estimated scheduled demand where enabled.
The Credits page is shown only when credit tracking is enabled for that workspace. A Preview label means usage is measured under a preview mode. Other workspaces can enforce the balance. Daily service capacity limits can still pause AI even when credits remain.
- Included credits. The plan provides a workspace allowance for each cycle. Unused monthly credits expire at refresh.
- Trial credits. Trial access uses a one-time grant with the trial’s expiration, rather than an indefinitely renewing monthly allowance.
- Purchased credits. Eligible billing administrators can buy a one-time credit pack. Purchased credits last 12 months, and included credits are used first.
- Human and deterministic work. Manual work and deterministic workflows do not consume AI credits. Model-backed agent work does.
Read estimates and actual costs
Agent requests can show an estimate and a maximum before they run, followed by the actual cost. An estimate is not a guarantee that every request will use the same number of credits; the work performed and model usage determine the result.
If the workspace runs out of enforced credits, AI work pauses. Ordinary manual work remains available, subject to any separate billing restriction. A temporary platform pause is different from an empty workspace balance and does not consume your remaining credits.
Usage shows where credits went for the current or previous cycle. Authorized billing administrators can open Credit history and Export CSV for a more detailed ledger.
Allocate credits to agents
Payroll lists each agent’s salary, used credits, held credits, scheduled work, and estimated amount left for on-demand work. An agent’s Salary tab provides its individual view.
A monthly salary sets aside credits for that agent so other agents cannot spend them. No salary lets the agent share the unallocated pool. A salary is an allocation of workspace credits, not an additional purchase or a payment to a person.
Billing administrators can set or edit salaries and review suggested salaries. Limits & alerts also provides a per-prompt credit limit and alert thresholds. Check scheduled estimates before committing most of the workspace allowance to individual agents.
Buy additional credits when offered
If Buy credits is available, choose a pack and review its current checkout amount and credit terms. Checkout confirms any applicable taxes. Credit packs are one-time purchases.
The purchase form can offer to save a card for future auto-recharge, but that choice leaves auto-recharge off. It does not by itself authorize repeated purchases. If you cannot see purchase or spending controls, ask someone with workspace billing permission to review the workspace’s eligibility.
