What you can do in Matte
Find the shared workspace tools and the app guides that explain them.
Matte brings your data, people, conversations, and agents into one workspace. Apps add tools for particular kinds of work. Start with the shared features below, then follow the app guides for the work your team does.
Set up a workspace for your team
A workspace is where a team keeps its members, settings, apps, and data. You can belong to more than one workspace and switch between them. Apps share that workspace, so adding an app does not require a second team directory or a separate sign-in.
- Getting started. Create or join a workspace, complete setup, choose an app or begin with a blank workspace, and find your way through the sidebar.
- People and access. Invite teammates, review join requests, organize departments, assign permission roles, and control access to objects, fields, and records.
- Personal settings. Set your profile, appearance, date and time preferences, navigation preferences, and keyboard shortcuts.
- Account and workspace management. Manage sign-in protection, sessions, workspace branding, plans, billing, and AI credit settings where available.

Organize and work with your data
The same data tools work across apps. An object is a type of thing you track, a record is one entry, and fields hold the details. Apps provide useful starting objects; authorized team members can customize them or create their own.
- Flexible fields. Store text, numbers, dates, currencies, statuses, people, links, images, and related records. Use formulas and field settings where supported.
- Record pages. Open a record, edit its details, add comments, inspect activity, and organize the page layout. Use links and relationships to move between connected information.
- Views. Work in tables, boards, calendars, or icons. Save filters, sorts, groups, visible columns, and other view settings for the way your team works.
- Finding things. Search across the workspace or within a table, narrow results with filters, and organize records with folders and saved views.
- Bringing data in and out. Map spreadsheet columns, preview an import, create or update records, make bulk edits, and export record data as CSV.

Keep the team connected
- Team chat. Use direct messages, group conversations, and channels. Reply in threads, mention people, react to messages, share files, and keep conversations open while you work.
- Chat access. Manage membership, invitations, channel settings, and permissions. Visibility and allowed actions depend on both workspace and conversation settings.
- Calendar. Create events, record time off and holidays, choose calendar layouts, and show supported schedules and dates from your workspace. Calendar views on objects show records by their date fields.
- Notifications and activity. Review the in-app inbox, open the work behind a notification, and inspect record or workspace activity. Read the notifications guide for the delivery methods that currently work.
Work with agents
Matte is the workspace assistant. Installed apps can add specialist agents. What an agent can do depends on its access, the capabilities enabled in your workspace, and any approvals or credits required for the work.
- Conversations. Start an agent conversation, ask questions about accessible records or product guides, and review proposed changes. Agents can participate in supported group conversations and channels.
- Tasks and schedules. Configure supported agent work, review runs and their results, and manage schedules. Live work and simulations are labeled separately.
- Review and control. Inspect a proposed action before approving it. Keep track of outcomes, failures, credit usage, and settings that limit agent work.

Use the tools your apps add
App guides explain capabilities that belong to a particular app. The current app guide collection covers Inventory Tracking. The shared guides above apply to the wider workspace and are organized separately so you can use them as your workspace grows.
- Catalog and stock. Track items, units, pack sizes, unit barcodes, stock by location, transfers, adjustments, lots, expiration dates, and physical counts.
- Buying and selling. Manage suppliers and purchase orders, prepare replenishment, receive deliveries, maintain customers and sales orders, and record shipments and payments.
- Inventory insights. Review stock and order summaries, run inventory reports, export results, and use demand forecasts as an input to planning.
Connect external tools
The API, CLI, and local MCP adapter let authorized integrations discover supported actions and work with workspace data. Access requires a suitable credential. The developer guide explains the current setup limitations, available interfaces, and how to inspect results.
Understand what is available to you
A guide describes implemented capabilities; it does not grant access to them. Your active apps, plan, role, record permissions, and workspace rollout can change which controls you see. A demo or simulation may also behave differently from live work. Individual guides call out relevant limits and unfinished controls so you can choose a working path.
