Preferences and keyboard shortcuts
Adjust your profile, appearance, accessibility, date preferences, and keyboard controls.
Personal settings let you make Matte comfortable to use without changing the team’s records. Use workspace settings for shared navigation and branding, and personal settings for your account and display preferences.
Open and search your settings
Open User Settings through your profile menu or with Command-comma on Mac and Control-comma on Windows. The settings search finds controls by name and related terms, then opens the relevant section.
General lets you update your profile photo or initials, profile color, name, phone number, and work description. It also shows your workspace memberships, role, and department and offers workspace switching and creation.
Your email address is displayed in General as account information. The profile editor should not be treated as an email-change flow. Security and Account contain sign-in and session controls.
Choose an appearance
In Personalization, choose Light, Dark, or System. System follows your device’s appearance setting. You can choose primary and secondary accent colors, including separate colors for dark mode.
Animations controls interface motion. Fogged glass controls translucent, blurred surfaces. Show cursors controls whether teammate and agent cursors appear on shared pages.
Display names as lets you choose full names, first names, or email addresses for people. These are display preferences; they do not rename another person’s account or change a record’s stored relationship.
Adjust accessibility
Open Accessibility from Personalization to change these options. Choose the combination that helps you work comfortably; reduced motion and reduced transparency are useful independently of the overall light or dark theme.
- Text size. Choose Small, Standard, Large, or Extra large to scale interface text and spacing together.
- Contrast. Choose System, Standard, or High contrast to adjust visual separation.
- Links and focus. Always underline links and use enhanced focus indicators when those cues make navigation easier.
- Click targets and cursors. Larger click targets increase the minimum size of controls. Pointer cursors make clickable elements easier to recognize.
- Reduced effects. Reduce motion limits animations, transitions, and smooth scrolling. Reduce transparency uses more solid surfaces.
Set dates and conversation preferences
Personalization includes a time-zone selector and first day of the week. Use a named time zone when you want a consistent display across devices, or the system option when you want to follow the device. Workspace time zone and regular hours are separate shared settings.
The interface includes a Language selector. Language selection is a preference; the presence of a language in the list does not guarantee that every screen, user-entered field name, or integration response has been translated.
Send messages on chooses Enter or Command-Enter. Emoji shortcuts can replace typed emoticons or shortcodes, and their mappings can be customized. Share current page with agents controls whether page, selection, and calendar context accompanies agent messages.
Notification preferences determine which supported alerts appear in Notifications. Use the notification and chat guides for the separate per-conversation and workspace controls.
Useful default shortcuts
Shortcuts are contextual. They do not grant permission, create a selection, or bypass a disabled action. Text-entry fields keep normal typing behavior instead of treating ordinary letters as navigation commands.
Command-Enter or Control-Enter submits or confirms in supported forms. Check the visible action before using it, particularly when a confirmation would apply a change.
- Command-K / Control-K. Open workspace search.
- /. Open commands when focus is not in a text input.
- ?. Open keyboard-shortcut help.
- [. Toggle the sidebar.
- Command-comma / Control-comma. Open personal settings. Add Shift for workspace settings.
- Command-Shift-L / Control-Shift-L. Toggle light and dark appearance.
- C. Start a new record, count, or order in a context that supports creation.
- Command-Shift-I / Control-Shift-I. Open the import wizard in a supported record list.
- Command-Shift-E / Control-Shift-E. Export the current supported selection as CSV.
- Command-Shift-U / Control-Shift-U. Open bulk update for a supported selection.
Customize your shortcuts
Some actions begin without a default binding and can be assigned a shortcut. Others are reserved. Turning off customizable keyboard shortcuts leaves the reserved system shortcuts available. Available actions include navigation, record operations, counts, orders, notifications, and settings, but their usefulness still depends on the active page.
Use the command menu to discover available actions in the current workspace. In an Inventory Tracking workspace, it also offers Take the tour so you can revisit the walkthrough.
- In Personalization, open the keyboard-shortcut editor.
- Find the action you want to change and record the desired key combination.
- Resolve any reported conflict with another action, a reserved shortcut, or a browser combination.
- Save your changes. Use an individual reset or Restore defaults if you want the original bindings back.
